Мета роботи – схарактеризувати основні аспекти діяльності бібліотек закладів вищої освіти, визначити роль бібліотек ЗВО у системі вищої школи; окреслити процес проєктування бібліотечно-інформаційного ресурсу «Єдиний бібліотечний простір» як варіанту модернізації бібліотечної справи в системі вищої освіти та науки, визначити мету та роль ресурсу, його структурну побудову. Методологія дослідження базується на текстологічному методі при визначенні походження діяльності бібліотечних установ і сучасного стану розвитку бібліотек закладів вищої освіти; методі аналізу / синтезу при дослідженні теоретичних основ, функцій та структури бібліотек вищої школи, при вивченні автоматизації бібліотечних процесів; проєктуванні концепції Єдиного бібліотечного простору, його структури та засад функціонування; методі конкретизації структурної побудови створеного ресурсу «Єдиний бібліотечний простір». Наукова новизна роботи полягає у створенні концепції бібліотечно-інформаційного ресурсу вищої школи «Єдиний бібліотечний простір» на базі інтернет-технологій, що сприяє модернізації системи бібліотечної справи, освіти та науки України. Висновки. Характеризуючи стан модернізації процесів у діяльності бібліотек закладів вищої освіти України, ми визначили, що на сьогодні в закладах спостерігаємо активний перехід до автоматизованих систем здійснення бібліотечних процесів. Проте модернізація визначається не лише запровадженням комп’ютерно-інформаційних систем, а й трансформацією розумінь про бібліотеку, реформування її структури та підвищення якості освіти співробітників. Сутність Єдиного бібліотечного простору в системі закладів вищої освіти виражається в зміні класичного розуміння про електронну бібліотеку. Цей ресурс спрямований на взаємодію бібліотек вищої школи України та об’єднання загальних зусиль для формування єдиного універсального фонду з перспективою комунікації
